Providing Scanning Services at Shelburne Hospital and the Bridge Clinic

General Abdominal Ultrasound Scans

Abdominal ultrasound is usually the first line of investigation for examining the liver, gallbladder, kidneys, spleen, pancreas, aorta and bladder. We have extensive experience in this area.

General Abdominal Ultrasound

Upper Abdominal Scan - £100

High frequency ultrasound enables us to assess your abdominal organs. It shows the liver, gall bladder, bile ducts, pancreas, aorta , spleen and kidneys.

Ultrasound used to help diagnose in conditions such as: abdominal pain or distension, abnormal liver function and gallstones.

You need to starve six to eight hours before the procedure, however you can drink water, squash, black tea, and coffee.

AAA Screening - £80

An Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) occurs in the body’s main artery. The aorta passes through the abdomen, and originates from the left ventricle of the heart. Fatty deposits, hardening of the arteries, a defect since birth, and injuries all cause problems. As time passes, the artery wall thins and balloons, similar to how an old worn tyre bulges. A normal aorta measures less than 30mm in diameter. An aorta measuring more than 30mm is considered to be an aneurysm. Our excellent team endeavours to detect an aneurysm and monitor it. If necessary, we enable it to be operated on before it reaches a stage where it is likely to rupture.

Urinary Tract  Ultrasound - £100

Urinary tract ultrasound is the primary investigation for urinary symptoms.

With high resolution ultrasound we can visualise the kidneys and bladder. This enables us to assess the size of the kidneys, look for abnormalities , for example cysts or tumours and for any obstruction within the kidneys.

We can check the bladder structure, volume and bladder emptying.

ABDOMINAL & PELVIC ULTRASOUND - £120

This looks at the upper abdominal organs and the organs of the pelvis.

For this you will need to be fasted and have a full bladder.
